Océan Vagabond was born in 1995 in Essaouira, from a deep passion for the ocean, the wind, and surfing. It was here that Jean-Sébastien Deflandre, a waterman at heart, discovered an exceptional location and envisioned a free and welcoming space dedicated to sea lovers. In 1996, Océan Vagabond became the first surf club in Essaouira Bay, then the first beach restaurant, laying the foundations for a unique lifestyle blending sport, nature, and hospitality. Driven by this pioneering spirit, the brand expanded to southern Morocco and found a new home in Dakhla.
In 2010, Océan Vagabond opened Océan Vagabond Lagon, an innovative ecolodge perfectly integrated into its natural environment. This structuring, committed, and visionary project marked a key milestone in the brand's development and will be handed over to new operators in February 2022, after more than ten years of operation. True to its DNA, Océan Vagabond continues its quest for exceptional locations and opened Océan Vagabond Lassarga in 2018, at the very tip of the Dakhla peninsula. Long inaccessible, this legendary spot between ocean and lagoon has become an intimate and committed ecolodge, a symbol of returning to the essentials and a nomadic vision of surfing and hospitality.

The Ocean Vagabond brand was born in Essaouira in 1995. In 1996, Ocean Vagabond became the first surf club in the bay of Essaouira, then the first beach restaurant, laying the foundations for a unique living space combining sport, nature and hospitality.
2010
In 2010, Océan Vagabond Lagon was born, an innovative ecolodge perfectly integrated into its natural environment. This structuring, committed, and visionary project marks a key step in our development and will be handed over to new operators in 2022.

In 2018, Océan Vagabond Lassarga was born at the very tip of the Dakhla peninsula. Long inaccessible, this legendary spot, nestled between the wild ocean and the lagoon, has been transformed into an intimate and socially conscious ecolodge. It embodies a true return to the essentials.
